Late accretion and the Origin of Life on Earth

Fri, Jan 31, 2020,   04:00 PM to 05:00 PM at Seminar Room. No. 32, second floor, Main building, IISER Pune

Ramon Brasser
of Earth Life Science Institute (ELSI) at Tokyo Institute of Technology in Tokyo, Japan

Abstract:

After the giant impact that formed the Moon roughly 4.5 billion years ago the Earth continued to be pummelled by planetesimals left over from primary accretion and from the asteroid belt. In this presentation I give an overview of what we know about the duration and intensity of this late accretion and how it affected the environment on the Hadean Earth to be hospitable for life.
