Abstract -

Due to their unique properties, ultracold molecules are interesting candidates for use as a quantum technology platform. In this talk, I will discuss a few of these properties and the current efforts in studying these properties. To begin with, I will discuss our recent proposal to use ultracold molecules as qudits for quantum computation. This will be followed by a brief introduction to an experimental setup of ultracold molecules in Durham University (UK). In this experimental setup, we study the effects of trapping on the decoherence of the internal states of the ultracold molecules. In this talk, I will present implementations of the methods which are available to reduce this decoherence. Towards the end of the talk, I will discuss an experimental investigation into the mysterious loss of chemically non-reactive molecules in a dipole trap by hypothesized sticky collisions.
