RNA Epitranscriptome in Translation Regulation

Mon, Apr 16, 2018,   02:30 PM to 03:30 PM at Seminar Room 34, 2nd Floor, Main Building

Dr. Namit Ranjan
Max Plank Institute for Biophysical Chemistry Gottingen, Germany

Currently, more than 100 different modifications are known in cellular RNAs. Uridine 34 (U34) at the wobble position of the tRNA anticodon is post- transcriptionally modified and play a vital role in translation regulation to maintain the exact rhythm of translation. Until recently, internal mRNA modifications (epitranscriptome) were neglected. Using a fully reconstituted cell-free eukaryotic translation system, biochemistry and biophysics, I am studying the role of mRNA epitranscriptome in translation regulation.
