The Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Pune has initiated an Integrated Ph.D. Program  for students on completion of their B. Sc/B.Tech or equivalent degree from any recognized university/institute in India. At  present, the program will cover Biological Sciences, Chemical Sciences, and Physical Sciences.

The Integrated PhD program is aimed to provide students with an opportunity for taking up research at an early stage of their higher studies. We invite applications from highly motivated students with an aptitude for research in basic sciences.

Selection to this program would be made on the basis of a written examination and interview conducted at IISER, Pune.

Candidates Selected for the Written Test for Admission to the Integrated Ph. D. Program 2012

 A) GENERAL

The list of applicants selected for the written test for admission to the program for Physics, Chemistry and Biology disciplines is posted below. Applicants would also be sent e-mails informing them of their selection.

Call letters for the test are issued based on the information provided by you. In case of any discrepancy or if the information provided is found to be false, your candidature will be cancelled automatically.

Please bring original copies of all supporting documents.

Candidates who have been called for the written test should confirm their appearance for the test before January 20, 2012 by e-mail to the address mentioned below, failing which their candidature is liable to be cancelled.

B) DATES FOR THE TEST

The written test will be held on January 28, 2012 and interviews will be conducted for candidates who qualify the written test on January 28 and 29, 2012. Candidates are therefore advised to plan their stay for both the days.

C) VENUE AND TIME FOR THE TEST

Candidates appearing for Biology should report at Loyola High School, Pashan, Pune 411008 (http://www.loyolahighschoolpune.org/index.php?id=161). Candidates with application numbers from BIO4-BIO1746 should report at 8:30 am while candidates with application numbers between BIO1747-BIO3484 should report at 10:30 am.

Candidates appearing for Chemistry should report at 8:30 am at HR4 in the IISER Main Campus, Pashan Road, Pune 411008.

Candidates appearing for Physics should report at 10:30 am at HR4 in the IISER Main Campus, Pashan Road, Pune 411008.

D) SELECTION PROCEDURE

Candidates in the open category must have scored at least 70% marks in both 10th and 12th standards and those in the SC/ST category must have scored at least 65% marks in both 10th and 12th standards for being selected for the written test. If a candidate qualifies the written test and subsequent interview processes for the integrated Ph. D. program, he/she must have scored 55% (Open category) or 50% (SC/ST category) marks in B. Sc. or equivalent degree for admission.

Important Note: Applicants who have not provided their 12th standard marks in the application form have also been included in the shortlist of candidates called for the written test. It is the responsibility of the applicant to make sure that he/she fulfills the required eligibility criteria of having scored 70% (Open category) or 65% (SC/ST category) in their 12th standard, failing which they will not be allowed to sit for the written test.

G) NATURE OF THE EXAM

The entrance test is based on B.Sc. level syllabus for physics/chemistry/biology disciplines and a general aptitude test for chemistry and biology disciplines. The test is designed to focus on problem solving skills as well as general understanding of the basics of each discipline. The entrance test would be of a multiple choice questions format of 90 minutesduration.

H) DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR THE EXAM

You are required to bring a photo ID and original certificates of mark sheets for 10th, 12th and B.Sc. etc. and caste certificate, if you belong to the reserved category. Separate hall tickets will not be issued for the entrance exam.
