Int. Ph.D. Programme 

IISER Pune offers integrated PhD (i-PhD) as a research programme with a blend of course work (2 years) and research projects to students who have completed a Bachelors' degree in any branch of science. On successful completion, students will be awarded both a Masters of Science and a PhD degree.
 
 
Admissions to the i-PhD Programme for August 2020 Batch
 
NOTE:
In view of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the last date of submission of online application forms has been extended to May 15, 2020 for ALL disciplines
The dates of interviews for ALL the disciplines are tentative. Please visit the respective sections of the webpage to know more about interview dates of your discipline/s of interest.

Application Procedure:

  1. Only online applications will be accepted. Incomplete applications will be rejected.
  2. The candidates must carefully fill and submit the online application form on or before the specified date.
  3. Last date of Application will be displayed here.
  4. After the last date, all applications will be screened and candidates selected for interviews will be intimated by email.

  4. Candidates who are appearing or about to appear for final examinations of the qualifying degree program are eligible to apply for Integrated PhD program. However, if selected, their admission would be conditional upon their completing the qualifying degree with the defined marks criteria, before 1st August 2020.
  5. Selection will be based on interviews of the short-listed candidates.
  6. Relaxation of eligibility criteria for SC/ST and PD applicants will be as per Government of India norms. Candidates belonging to reserved category will have to submit relevant certificates, if selected.
  7. Applying does not automatically guarantee that a candidate will be shortlisted for interview. Depending on the number of applications received, respective departments may use additional criteria (like academic performance and/or ranking in respective national level tests like JGEEBILS / JAM / NBHM / JEST) to shortlist candidates for interviews.
  8. There may be more than one round of interviews. Shortlisted candidates from round one will be called for a second round of interview. Candidates should come prepared to stay for at least two days when they come for the interview.

Biology

Chemistry

Eligibility Criteria
1. Students with minimum 60% marks in aggregate (overall percentage; not only in majoring subject) or CGPA 6 out of 10-point scale (55% or equivalent CGPA in aggregate for SC/ST and PD candidates) in B.Sc. (General / B.Sc. majoring in Chemistry, Physics & Biology) and qualifying additional criteria as given below can apply for Integrated Ph.D. Program in Chemistry starting August 2020.
Candidates who are in the final year of qualifying degree, who have appeared/about to appear for the final exams can also apply for integrated PhD program. If selected for admission to the program, the candidate will be given provisional admission subjected to completing the qualifying degree, as per the criteria specified above, before August 1, 2020.
 
2. Candidates with rank No. 800 or less in JAM (Chemistry) 2020 can apply for the Integrated PhD program in Chemistry.
 
Interview:
Final selection to the programme will be based on performance of the shortlisted candidates in a personal interview to be held at IISER Pune in June 2020.  Based application form and the above listed criteria, applicants will be shortlisted for an interview. Candidates shortlisted for the interview will receive a separate email to appear for the interview at the IISER Pune campus. If the number of eligible applicants is more than what can be interviewed, additional cut off criteria may be used to shortlist from within the list of eligible applicants.
 
Please note:
Applying to Integrated PhD program in Chemistry does not automatically guarantee that a candidate will be shortlisted for the interview. The department may use additional criteria in order to shortlist candidates for interviews depending on the number of applications received (e.g., JAM ranking).

Mathematics

Eligibility Criteria

1A. Students with minimum 60% marks in aggregate (overall percentage; not only in majoring subject) or CGPA 6 out of 10-point scale (55% or equivalent CGPA in aggregate for SC/ST and PD candidates) in BSc any specialization or BTech, and qualifying additional criteria as given below can apply for Integrated PhD Program in Mathematics 2020.

AND

1B. Candidates will be shortlisted for the interview on the basis of their score / ranking in: -
            (a) JAM 2020 in MA or MS only
                                  OR
            (b) NBHM 2020

2. Candidates in the final year of their Bachelor's degree are also eligible to apply. However, their final selection is subject to their successful completion of the Bachelor's degree with the above mentioned requirements at the time of admission. (Tentatively scheduled to be commencing in August 2020)

Interview
Final selection to the programme will be based on performance of the shortlisted candidates in a personal interview to be held at IISER Pune tentatively in June 2020.  Based on the application form given below and the above listed criteria, applicants will be shortlisted for an interview. Candidates selected for the interview will receive a separate email to appear for the interview at the IISER Pune campus.

Physics

Eligibility Criteria
The candidate should have a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate (overall percentage; not only in the majoring subject) or CGPA 6 out of a 10 point scale (55% or equivalent CGPA in aggregate for SC/ST and PD candidates) in BSc/BTech/BE. All percentage numbers are to be rounded to the nearest integers.

Those students who are currently in the final year of the BSc/BTech/BE programs are welcome to apply. If shortlisted after the final interviews, a provisional admission will be given and the final admission will be subject to the condition that the above criteria are met.
and
 
The candidate should have a rank (valid in June 2020) better than or equal to 500 in JAM (Physics) or JEST ( IPhD Physics).

If the number of eligible applications is more than what can be interviewed, additional cut off criteria will be used to shortlist from within the list of eligible applicants.

Interview
Final selection to the program will be based on performance of the shortlisted candidates in a personal interview to be conducted in the IISER Pune campus in June 2020.
