PhD Programme in Physics - January 2021
 
IISER Pune Physics Department invites online applications for admission to PhD programme for the January 2021 session.

General information:
Note that the PhD programme for January 2021 session starts in January 2021, but the actual start date may be delayed by few weeks due to the COVID pandemic. Admission will be based on the performance during a online personal interview. Additional criteria well beyond the minimum eligibility criteria will be used for shortlisting the candidates to be called for the interview.
 
For the January 2021 admissions, the department has open positions in the following broad areas:
(i) Nonlinear dynamics and chaos, (ii) Quantum computing, sensing and metrology, (iii) condensed matter physics, (iv) physics of soft and living matter (experimental)
 
Students are eligible to apply for the January 2021 session if they fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria listed below.
   
Minimum eligibility criteria:
(1) Minimum 60% marks in aggregate (overall percentage; not only in majoring subject) or CGPA 6 out of 10 point scale (55% or equivalent CGPA in aggregate for SC/ST and PD candidates) with a Master’s degree in physics or a B.Tech/B.E in Engineering Physics, Material Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science.
(2) In addition, the candidate MUST have qualified National Eligibility Test (NET) with valid CSIR-JRF/UGC-JRF score. The scores/ranks MUST be valid on the date of start of the Ph.D programme.
