Earth and Climate Science

The research focus of the department is to understand the natural processes that shape the Earth at a range of spatial and temporal scales. Research questions span over interacting spheres, from the deep earth study to atmospheric dynamics. The following are the main research domains of the department and the members working therein.

IISER Pune has a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PE Limited, under which PE Limited has donated the MOVE 2023 software suite license which is equivalent to £2506898.78. The software is used by geoscientists for the purpose of subsurface data visualization, cross-section construction, 3D model building, and structural analysis. The MoU has been renewed in November 2024.
