This project aims to decipher how the cohesin protein orthologs in humans and yeast differ from each other and whether the human orthologs can functionally complement the cohesin complex in fission yeast Schizosaccharomyces pombe. Genetic and molecular biology approaches will be majorly used in this study.
Basic knowledge in genetics and molecular biology especially concepts of gene complementation and expression will be important.
Prior experience in microbiological practices and molecular biology techniques like PCR, gel electrophoresis, blotting techniques will be useful and preferred. Previous research experience in doing projects will be preferred.
