IISER Pune presents the Skill-enhancement for Under-Represented Groups in Education (SURGE) workshop.

What: A fully-funded, 7-day intensive Molecular Biology Workshop 

When: December 22-28, 2024 

Where: IISER Pune Campus

Who can apply: 
Applicants must fulfill all three criteria
• Masters students from marginalized groups (SC, ST, OBC non-creamy layer, EWS, Women) 
• Studying in institutes located in Category Y and Z cities of India 
• Currently enrolled in a post graduate course (MSc) or IV-V year of an Integrated Masters Program / BTech in any branch of life-sciences. IV-V year MBBS/BAMS students can also apply.

Workshop Highlights:
• Hands-on experiments for all participants 
• Cutting-edge techniques in molecular biology 
• Visits to academic/industrial facilities 
• Talks by renowned scientists 
• All expenses covered (travel, accommodation, meals) 
• Certificate upon successful completion.

Content: 
• Restriction-based gene cloning 
• In silico plasmid editing and primer designing 
• Gene expression quantification (qPCR) 
• Protein expression check and confirmation.
