Indian Effort in HEP software - a historical perspective

Prof. Sunanda Banerjee, IACS, Kolkata

Seminar Hall 31, 2nd Floor, main Building

Abstract:

Experiments in the field of High Energy Physics require expertise in building dedicated detectors and software that convert the information from collisions into data to be analysed by physicists. India started participating in accelerator-based high-energy physics in the sixties. However, the first effort in software started only in the late 80's. India is expected to make a greater effort in software with a significant increase in personnel power as well as financial support. Some of the contributions to HEP software from the Indians will be reported in this presentation.
