Atal Incubation Centre inaugurated at IISER Pune

The online inauguration and formal virtual launch of IISER Pune's technology business incubator, Atal Incubation Centre (AIC) - IISER Pune SEED Foundation (AIC-SEED) was held today. A recording of the inauguration event is here. 

 

Dr. R.A. Mashelkar, FRS, National Research Professor, and eminent scientist, inaugurated AIC-SEED in an online event as the Chief Guest. Shri Ramanan Ramanathan, Mission Director, Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour, and Dr. Abhay Jere, Chief Innovation Officer, Ministry of Education, participated as the Distinguished Guest in this virtual event.

 

Founder Directors of the AIC-SEED Prof. Sanjeev Galande and Prof. S. Sivaram and IISER Pune Director Prof. Jayant Udgaonkar were present at the event along with team members of the AIC-SEED.

 

 

Supported by the Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog, Govt. of India and promoted by IISER Pune, AIC-SEED, is a not-for-profit entity, established with an objective to stimulate and encourage the growth of deep science-based startup companies and foster a culture of entrepreneurship in an academic and knowledge driven research environment.

 

AIC-SEED will provide an enabling eco-system to kick-start and nurture the journey of a startup as it transitions from the phase of discovery to creation of a successful business venture.

 

With this initiative, IISER Pune aims to encourage a culture of entrepreneurship among its faculty, staff and students. AIC-SEED will offer its services to deserving entrepreneurs, from within IISER Pune and outside, who wish to incubate their startups by accessing a range of services, including shared and dedicated lab spaces, office spaces, Maker’s lab, AI and design studio, and business and funding support services. Eligible startups will include those in the domains of biotechnology, healthcare, energy, environment and functional materials, artificial intelligence and big data analytics.

 

AIC-SEED will commence its operations in a phased roll-out of facilities and services in the coming months.
