The Bhatnagar Prize is announced September 26 every year on the occasion of CSIR's Foundation Day celebration. Dr Pucadyil is one of the 13 award winners in 7 disciplines and is one of the 2 winners in the Biological Sciences discipline for 2018. Complete list of this year's Bhatnagar Prize awardees is here.
Dr Pucadyil works on vesicular transport, a process by which cells transport proteins in little vesicles bound by membranes. Along with his team of graduate and undergraduate students, Dr Pucadyil uses reconstitution approaches to study the mechanism that cells might be using for vesicles to break away from parent membranes thereby allowing packaging and transport of cellular materials. You can learn more about his work here.
Congratulations to Dr Thomas Pucadyil on winning the Bhatnagar Prize!
