Dr. Arvind Natu Nominated as Chair of Board of Governors of IISER Kolkata

Dr. Arvind Natu has been nominated to be the Chairperson of the Board of Governors of IISER Kolkata; the nomination was made by the President of India in his capacity as the Visitor for IISER Kolkata, and the appointment is for a period of three years. As the apex decision-making body appointed by the Government of India, the role of the Board includes overseeing and approving the decisions of various institutional committees and providing direction to institutions.Dr. A A Natu.jpg Currently an Honorary faculty member at IISER Pune, Dr. Natu has been associated with IISER Pune since its inception and has been extensively involved with outreach activities and infrastructure development at the institute. He was formerly a Senior Scientist at CSIR- National Chemical Laboratory, Pune with research interests in combinatorial and bio-organic chemistry, and biology in drug discovery. Dr. Natu has also been actively involved with International Chemistry Olympiads and has been instrumental in initiating Indo-German collaborations in science, technology and education. He is a recipient of the German ‘Cross of Merit’ which is conferred to foreign nationals by the Government of Germany, and many other awards and distinctions.
