IISER Pune Students Make their Mark in National Research Fellowship Awards

IISER Pune students have put up a wonderful show at the CSIR-UGC joint National Eligibility Test (NET) in 2012. Congratulations to all of them!! Students who are selected through CSIR-UGC NET will receive a fellowship to pursue research after completing Master’s degree and the top few rank holders are further chosen for Shyama Prasad Mukherjee (SPM) scholarship. Siddharth Iyengar and Sachit placed at ranks 2 and 6, respectively, have been chosen for this year’s Shyama Prasad Mukherjee scholarship in Life Sciences. CSIR conducts the CSIR-UGC NET twice a year for Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, and Earth Atmospheric Ocean & Planetary Sciences jointly with the UGC. The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) is an autonomous body of the Government of India and is one of largest publicly funded R&D organizations with links to academia, R&D organizations and industry. The University Grants Commission (UGC) is a Government of India body whose main mandate is to promote and coordinate university education in India.
