Three faculty members of IISER Pune, Prof. R. Boomi Shankar (Chemistry), Prof. Siddhesh Kamat (Biology), and Prof. M.S. Santhanam (Physics) and have been elected as Fellows of the National Academy of Sciences (NASI) Prayagraj.

The fellowship will be effective from January 1, 2027, and new members will be formally inducted at the 96th Annual Session and Symposium of NASI, to be held at Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi, during December 3-4, 2026.
Founded in 1930, NASI is the oldest science academy in India and supports scientific excellence across all disciplines. Election as a Fellow of NASI is a prestigious honour that recognises individuals for their outstanding contributions to science and research.
