Dr. Richa Rikhy, Associate Professor in Biology at IISER Pune, has been selected for the Senior Fellowship awarded by the DBT/Wellcome Trust India Alliance. Dr. Rikhy is one of the four awardees of IA's Senior Fellowship for 2022 in the category of Basic Biomedical Research.
Funded by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India and Wellcome Trust, UK, the DBT/Wellcome Trust India Alliance is an independent public charity that funds research in health and biomedical sciences in India. The Senior Fellowship is awarded for a period of five years to researchers leading an independent group and enables the awardees to expand their research programme through a fellowship and research grant.

Dr. Richa Rikhy and her group work on how cells get their distinct identity and physical attributes of a given cell type. Specifically, the group works on epithelial cell development and differentiation using Drosophila embryos as a model system.
