Inauguration of Mental Well-Being Centre

Mental wellbeing has always been recognised as an integral aspect of IISER Pune's wellness programme. Institute members have had the facility of consulting with counsellors on campus. To enhance this facility further, a dedicated space has been inaugurated on January 16, 2026, on the campus, for both one-on-one counselling as well as for hosting group sessions with students and other institute members.

The institute counseling team, Parnika Kokate, Deepali Awakale, and Rebecca D'Souza encourage the IISER Pune family to explore aspects of mental wellbeing with them, and wish everyone good mental health. The Mental Wellbeing Centre is located in Hostel-2 of the institute campus and is open to all the institute members. 

The centre was inaugurated by the IISER Pune BoG Chairperson Madabhushi Madan Gopal, IAS, and IISER Pune Director, Prof. Sunil Bhagwat. Prof. Anjan Banerjee, Prof. Arnab Mukherji, and Prof. Nagaraj Balasubramaniam, Deans for R&D, Outreach, and Student Activities, respectively, were present at the event along with members from the medical committee, hostel committee, engineering staff, and administrative staff.
