Dr. Anup Biswas from the Department of Mathematics and Prof. S.G. Srivatsan from the Department of Chemistry have been elected as Fellows of the Indian Academy of Sciences (IASc), Bengaluru.

The Academy has announced a total of 38 members elected as Fellows in 2025 from across the country. The affiliation is effective from January 2026 onwards.

Founded in 1934, the Indian Academy of Sciences (IASc) promotes scientific progress across disciplines. The IASc fellowship is a prestigious award that recognises individual contributions to science and research. The fellowship offers the opportunity to connect with researchers, participate in scientific discourse, and engage in academic and research activities.

Dr. Biswas’s research centers on stochastic control and nonlocal partial differential equations. He employs probabilistic techniques to address fundamental questions in the theory of nonlocal differential equations. Some of his recent work has led to significant advances in the regularity theory of nonlocal differential equations.

Working in the area of nucleic acid diagnosis and therapeutics, Prof. Srivatsan's group develops innovative biochemical tools and chemo-enzymatic labeling technologies. Through these, the group addresses key challenges in visualizing, mapping the structure, dynamics, and druggable landscape of therapeutically relevant nucleic acids.

We congratulate Dr. Anup Biswas and Prof. S.G. Srivatsan on this recognition and wish them the best in their research endeavours!
