Masters' Programmes Integrated PhD Programme PhD Programme

MS in Mathematics and Computing Programme – August 2026

IISER Pune invites applications from highly motivated students for admission to the Master of Science (MS) in Mathematics and Computing programme for the session August 2026. For details on the programme and course structure, visit

Minimum Eligibility Criteria:

Minimum 60% marks in aggregate (overall percentage; not only in the majoring subject) or an equivalent C.G.P.A. on a 10-point scale (55% or an equivalent C.G.P.A. on a 10-point scale in aggregate for SC, ST, and PWD candidates) in B.Sc. in any specialisation or B.Tech.

Candidates in the final year of their Bachelor's degree are also eligible to apply. However, their final selection is subject to their successful completion of the Bachelor's degree with the above-mentioned requirements at the time of admission.

Application and Selection Process:

  1. Only online applications will be accepted. Incomplete applications will be rejected.
  2. The candidates must carefully fill out and submit the online application form on or before 20th March, 2026 at 05.00PM.
  3. Selection to the programme will be based on an MCQ-based admission test scheduled for Saturday, 4th April 2026, from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM, at the IISER Pune campus.
  4. After the application deadline, all the applications will be screened, and a list of candidates shortlisted for the written test will be released. Details regarding the venue of the admission test and reporting time will be announced at that time.
  5. Based on the performance in the admission test, the final list of candidates selected for the programme will be released in due time.

  3. Relaxation of eligibility criteria for reserved category applicants will be as per the Government of India norms. Candidates belonging to the reserved category will have to submit relevant certificates if selected.
  4. Applying does not automatically guarantee that a candidate will be selected. Depending upon the number of applications received, IISER may apply additional criteria to shortlist students for the admission test and to select for admission.
  5. Accommodation will not be provided to the candidates appearing for the admission test.

 

 

Integrated Ph.D. Programme in Mathematics - August 2026

 

Minimum Eligibility Criteria:

 

Students with minimum 60% marks in aggregate (overall percentage; not only in majoring subject) or an equivalent C.G.P.A on a 10-point scale (55% or an equivalent C.G.P.A in aggregate for SC, ST and PD candidates) in any Bachelor’s degree in related branches satisfying the above criteria of marks can apply. 

 

Additionally, the candidate are encouraged to satisfy any ONE of the following criteria:

  1. Appeared for NBHM Master’s scholarship written exam in 2026.
  2. Appeared for the JAM 2026 exam in MA or MS only.

 

 (*Validity: The scores/ranks MUST be valid at the time of admission. Candidates in the final year who haven’t received their marks, but will obtain them by the time of joining, can also apply.)  

 

For all the national eligibility examinations which provide a common rank / score, the cut-off rank / score for shortlisting for the Interviews for the reserved categories shall be lowered to 1.25 times the General category rank / score.

 

Shortlisted applicants will have to clear a two-stage written examination to be held on the IISER Pune campus. Students clearing both the written examinations will be called for an online interview.

Date of Written test and Interviews: The written test will be held on April 04, 2026, 2:30 PM – 5:30 PM. The interview dates will be announced later.

Ph.D. Programme in Mathematics - August 2026

 

 

 

Minimum Eligibility Criteria:

 

Students with minimum 60% marks in aggregate (overall percentage; not only in majoring subject) or an equivalent C.G.P.A on a 10-point scale (55% or an equivalent C.G.P.A in aggregate for SC,ST and PD candidates) in any Master’s degree or B.E., B. Tech. in related branches satisfying the above criteria of marks can apply. 

 

Additionally, the candidate MUST satisfy any ONE of the following criteria:

  1. Appeared for NBHM Ph.D. written exam in 2026 and has a D-score of 35 marks (28 marks for SC, ST and PD candidates).
  2. Qualified National Eligibility Test (NET) with valid* CSIR-JRF/UGC-JRF in Mathematics or Computer Science and Applications with rank up to 300 for unreserved category and up to 375 for SC, ST and PD candidates.
  3. Valid* GATE rank with rank up to 300 for unreserved category candidates, and up to 375 for SC, ST and PD candidates) in Mathematics or Computer Science and Information Technology.
  4. Integrated BS-MS, MS (or MSc) in Mathematics from any of the Institutes of National Importance with a C.G.P.A more than or equal to 8 out of 10.
