IISER Pune celebrated the 76th Independence Day of India today with a flag hoisting ceremony followed by a cultural programme. Students, staff, and faculty members participated at the event along with their families.
Addressing the gathering during the event, Director Prof. Jayant Udgaonkar spoke about excellence and funding in science and the importance of doing well in science in rational thinking in society and the development of the country. The winner of the ‘Matribhasha Diwas’ essay competition Mr. Ganesh Dimber (Lab Assistant, Chemistry Department) was awarded a certificate and cash prize. This was followed by a cultural programme with participation from the student community and by children residing on campus.
This year, on the occassion of the Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign, the Indian flag adorned each building of the campus.
