IISER Pune expresses sincere condolences on the demise of Shri Rahul Bajaj, noted industrialist and head of the Bajaj group. Shri Bajaj was among the foremost supporters of IISER Pune and had generously funded the construction of a hall of residence for women research scholars on campus which can now house up to 750 research students.
During the inauguration ceremony of the hall of residence held in January 2020 at IISER Pune, Shri Bajaj said that while this adds to the infrastructure of the institute, the overarching purpose is to contribute to the cause of science and to make India proud of its achievements. The same day, he had also announced supporting Chair Professorships at IISER Pune to recognise the academic achivements of our researchers. Three of our faculty members have been recipients of this recognition in 2021.
We salute Shri Rahul Bajaj's vision and contributions to the industry and his service to the community. On behalf of all IISER Pune members, we express our deepest condolences to the Bajaj family and friends.
