To observe International Day of Yoga 2022, a free 15-day Yoga workshop was conducted between May 20 to June 6, 2022. Many members of the IISER family including faculty, students, non-teaching staff registered for the workshop and a total of 50 members took part in the event coordinated by the student-led Yogen Club.
The sessions were conducted for an hour every morning under the guidance of Dr. Praveen C, Medical Officer at National Institute of Naturopathy, Pune. The workshop was designed to systematically increase flexibility and strength both physically and mentally. Dr. Praveen along with his intern Prajwal Rao K.R. started with beginners level of yoga practice and progressed into advanced level by the end of the workshop.
Participants were taught surya namaskar, trikon asana, setubandh asana, vriksha asana, uthit paad asana, anulom vilom, kapalbhati, bhramari pranayam, jal-neeti kriya along with lessons on yogic diet.
BS-MS student Vidushi Sharma who was the coordinator for Yogen Club said" The whole programme was designed very flexibly to entertain a diverse population. Everyone enjoyed this novel learning experience and is looking forward to more such regular events in the campus".
