Dr. Siddhesh S. Kamat from the Department of Biology has been conferred upon with the prestigious Tarun Tejankit Award for the year 2025.
Instituted by Loksatta, the Marathi daily of the Indian Express Group, the Tarun Tejankit Award is conferred annually to individuals who have made outstanding contributions in their respective fields, such as films, music, sports, research, literature, public service, and social work.

The 2025 awards were given to 20 young individuals from across the state of Maharashtra working in different sectors. The awards were presented by Honourable Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Shri Nitin Gadkari on March 31, 2025 in Pune.
Dr. Siddhesh Kamat's research group works on the biological mechanisms of lipid signalling pathways in the mammalian nervous and immune systems. A focus area is to annotate enzymes and receptors that regulate the biology of the lipid signalling pathways and provide new insights and therapeutic paradigms.
