Prof. Srinivas Hotha, faculty member in the department of Chemistry at IISER Pune, is among the recipiencts of the 2024 National Awards to Teachers in Higher Educational Institutions by the Ministry of Education, Government of India.
The awards were presented by the President of India Droupadi Murmu in an award ceremony held at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi yesterday, on September 5, which is celebrated every year as Teachers' Day.
Prof. Srinivas Hotha's research group works in the area of carbohydrate chemistry. He joined IISER Pune in 2010 and was at the CSIR-National Chemical Laboratory in Pune prior to this. At IISER Pune, along with mentoring PhD students, Prof. Hotha teaches courses on the principles of organic chemistry and organic synthesis.
A total of 16 teachers from higher educational institutions and 50 teachers from schools across India have been selected for the 2024 round of National Awards to Teachers.
These awards recognise the distinctive contributions of faculty members in the country and honour them for their dedication and hard work, particularly teaching and pedagogy and its impact.
