Prof. Sujit K. Ghosh from the Department of Chemistry has been selected for the Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel Research Prize by Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, Germany. This prestigious international recognition is awarded annually to distinguished scientists and scholars and recognises outstanding research contributions.
The prize is named after Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel (1784–1846), a prominent German astronomer and mathematician, and is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research of Germany.

The award carries a prize money and enables collaborative research projects at German research institutions. Prof. Sujit Ghosh will be visiting for collaborative research Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf in Germany as part of this prize.
Prof. Sujit Ghosh's research group is working on the development and functional studies of various advanced porous materials like Metal-organic Frameworks (MOFs), Metal-organic Polyhedra (MOPs), Porous organic polymers (POPs), Hydrogen-bonded Organic Frameworks (HOFs), Nano-composites of porous materials etc. for chemical industry, energy and environmental applications.
