Prof. Jayant B. Udgaonkar from the Department of Biology is among those selected for the Vigyan Shri Award for the year 2024 announced here yesterday. This is part of the new Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar awards initiated by the Government of India to honour exceptional contributions to the fields of science and technology.
A total of 33 scientists and technologists have been selected for the 2024 Vigyan Puraskar awards including 1 Vigyan Ratna Award, 13 Vigyan Shri Awards, 18 Vigyan Yuva Awards, and one Vigyan Team Award. The full list of awards can be viewed here.
Prof. Jayant Udgaonkar has had a long-standing research career in the area of protein folding, protein stability, and aggregation. Using the tools of physical biochemistry and small model proteins, his research group studies how proteins fold, unfold, and misfold. Learn more about his work here.
