Dr. Sudipta Sarkar (Assistant Professor, Earth and Climate Science) has been elected a Fellow of Geological Society of London.
The Geological Society of London is the oldest professional body of geologists in the world, founded in 1807. The Society works to improve knowledge and understanding of the earth, promotes earth science education and awareness, and promotes professional excellence and ethical standards amongst earth scientists. It has a worldwide membership of over 12,000.
Dr. Sudipta Sarkar is a marine geoscientist working on reflection seismic data analysis. His research group endeavours to understand sedimentary processes using seismic data, based on seismic oceanography, seismic stratigraphy, analysis of marine gas hydrates and volcanic basins, and other such methods.
