SwarnaJayanti Fellowships to two IISER Pune faculty members

Two faculty members at IISER Pune, Dr. Mousomi Bhakta (Associate Professor, Mathematics Department) and Dr. Siddhesh Kamat (Associate Professor, Biology Department), are among those selected for the Department of Science and Technology (DST)’s SwarnaJayanti Fellowships for 2020-21

Initiated to mark the fiftieth year of India’s independence, the SwarnaJayanti Fellowships are awarded by the DST, Govt. of India to a very select number of scientists in the country, working in various frontier areas of science and technology. The award comprises a monthly fellowship received in addition to salary, and a yearly grant for research for five years. Additionally, the project proposals submitted by Fellows are considered for funding by the Science & Engineering Research Board (SERB) as per norms.

Dr. Bhakta and Dr. Kamat are among the 17 scientists across India who have been selected in the 2020-21 round of SwarnaJayanti Fellowships scheme, and were selected in the Mathematical Sciences and Life Sciences categories, respectively, of the scheme. The fellowships will support Dr. Mousomi Bhakta's research in the area of non-linear analysis and differential equations and Dr. Siddhesh Kamat's research on lipid signalling pathways.
