Prof. Jayant Udgaonkar selected as National Science Chair by ANRF

Prof. Jayant Udgaonkar, Distinguished Professor Emeritus in the Department of Biology and Former Director of IISER Pune, has been awarded the prestigious National Science Chair of the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), Government of India.

The National Science Chair is one of the highest recognitions instituted by ANRF to honour eminent scientists for their outstanding and sustained contributions to research and education in science and technology. The award supports distinguished scientists to continue pursuing impactful research and mentoring the next generation of researchers.

Prof. Udgaonkar has had a distinguished career in the area of protein folding, protein stability, and aggregation. His research group employs the tools of physical biochemistry and small model proteins to understand how proteins fold, unfold, and misfold — fundamental processes underlying many biological functions and diseases.
