Two faculty members elected as Fellows of the National Academy of Sciences, India

Two faculty members from IISER Pune Dr. Gayathri Pananghat (Biology Department) and Prof. S.G. Srivatsan (Chemistry Department) have been elected as Fellows of the National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI) based in Prayagraj.

Founded in 1930, NASI is the oldest science academy in India and supports scientific excellence across all disciplines. Election as a Fellow of NASI is a prestigious honour that recognises individuals for their outstanding contributions to science and research. A total of 80 Fellows across India have been named as Fellows for the year 2025.

Dr. Gayathri Pananghat's research is on understanding the bacterial cytoskeleton and mechanism of action of proteins involved in cell shape, motility, and division. Prof. S.G. Srivatsan works in the field of nucleic acid chemistry and therapeutics by employing innovative probe design and nucleic acid labelling technologies.
